Riley really enjoys a park up here called Marina Park. Riley calls it Mr. Krabs park (like Mr. Krabs from Spongebob) because there are crabs there, of course. The kids have a fun time looking for crabs in the rocks and throwing rocks into the water. On this day, we found a baby crab.
finding rocks to throw in the water
Riley with the crab he foundWhen it came time to put our crab back, Riley threw a fit. He didn't want to put him back because last time we put "him" back, we couldn't find "him". (A little background, one day Jim and Riley were at the park and they found a baby crab. So, everytime we go to the park, he keeps looking for this particular baby crab). So Jim, not I, said that he could take him home. I somehow, felt pitty for this baby crab, and was sure it was going to meet it's doom at my home. Jim and Riley made a make shift home for it out of the boys waterwheel and we already had some sand in the backyard from a previous trip to the beach.
our make shift home for Mr. KrabsI woke the next morning, not wanting to go outside to see that our new pet had passed, so I didn't and I was able to divert Riley's attention every time he mentioned seeing his crab. However, when Jim got home that night, he and Riley went outside to find "Mr. Krabs" alive and well. I decided that if he survived the night in our make shift home, that he deserved a real chance at survival, so with Jim laughing at me as I left, I went to the pet store to get him a real home and some crab food. (Jim did apologize for laughing when I got home and helped me put together Mr. Krabs new home.)
