Adjusting to life

Jim is a month into the academy and so far things are going well for him. I have had some time to establish a routine now that Jim is gone most days and things are going pretty well. I got a new double jogging stroller so a couple times a week I meet some friends for a walk at the beach. Monday and Wednesday's when Riley is at preschool, I do my chores and run errands and if I'm lucky, may even get some sewing time in. Then when Riley gets home from preschool, it's his naptime, so I can get a nap in too if I need. Riley on the other hand is having a harder time adjusting. Every morning he wakes up and asks for Jim. Then when I tell him that he's at work, he gets sad. He usually cheers up after I tell him he can have waffles for breakfast. When Jim does come home for the weekend, Riley follows him EVERYWHERE. Jim can't go into the bathroom without Riley wanting to follow. It's cute and a little sad at the same time.

Nicholas had his 2 month doctors appointment, and he sure has grown! He weighed in at 13 lbs. 2 oz. and is 24 inches long. He is well into his 3-6 month clothes. Nicholas has been a really good baby. He's sleeping well at night and generally takes good naps during the day.

Riley is doing really well with Nicholas too. He is always quick to tell me if he's sad and will give him his pacifier when he's crying. He likes to help burp him and likes to tickle him too.

I have had a hard time getting pictures of Riley and Nicholas recently, because if I bring my camera out, Riley wants to hold it and take pictures and if I don't let him, then he will fuss, so any picture I was going to take of him is now going to be of a fussy Riley. Anyway, here are a few pictures I have been able to capture. They are in order by date.

Most pictures I try to take of Riley look something like this...

or like this after I tell him it's my turn to take pictures.

(I was trying to take a picture of his new haircut. Notice the bangs are gone)

Looking a little cross eyed.

Nicholas was blessed in church on May 4th by Grandpa Burnham. Here he is in his blessing outfit. He grew out of the sweater vest that Grandma Burnham made so we had to purchase this one. She also made the mocassins and I made the shorts.

I caught Riley and his cousin Brayden playing underneath Nicholas' playmat.

I have been trying to get a picture of Nicholas' smile, but they never seem to come out. Here's the best picture I have of his smile. It's a profile, but you can tell he's smiling.

I have been told that Nicholas looks like his cousin Joseph. I don't really see the resemblance. However, in this picture, I suppose he resembles Joseph just a little bit. Could just be the angle of the camera or Nicholas' expression. Who knows...OR maybe he does look like Joseph.
